How to Use the “Remove Categories from Chat” Action in Botassium
Managing your contacts in Botassium’s built-in CRM involves not just assigning categories, but also updating or removing them as a contact’s status or behavior changes. The “Remove Categories from Chat” action lets you automatically remove one or more categories from a contact during an automation flow.
This guide shows how to use it for keeping your contact database organized and relevant.
What is the “Remove Categories from Chat” Action?
The Remove Categories from Chat node is an automation action that removes selected categories from the current WhatsApp contact in your CRM.
It’s useful for:
Updating lead or customer status
Clearing old or temporary segment tags (e.g., “Waiting Payment” or “New User”)
Managing campaign cycles (e.g., removing from “Active Campaign” after completion)
Keeping your contact segments clean and meaningful
Categories are managed from the Categories Manager popup, accessible directly from the node’s settings.
How to Set It Up
Open or Create an Automation Flow
Go to the Automations section in your Botassium dashboard.Add the “Remove Categories from Chat” Node
Drag it into your flow wherever you want to remove contact categories.Select Categories to Remove
Use the dropdown to choose which categories to remove from the contact. You can:Select from existing categories
Open the Categories Manager to edit or create new ones
Use It Based on Behavior or Status
Common triggers include:Completing a purchase
Changing subscription type
Failing a qualification step
Example Use Case
A user is initially labeled “Interested in Webinar”. Once the event ends:
A delay node waits 2 days after the webinar
The Remove Categories from Chat action removes the “Interested in Webinar” category
Optionally, the user is then added to a “Past Attendees” category
