Save to Google Drive

How to Use the “Save to Google Drive” Action in Botassium

If your users are sending documents, images, audio notes, or other attachments on WhatsApp, the “Save to Google Drive” action in Botassium lets you automatically store those files in a selected Drive folder—making file management seamless and centralized.

This guide explains how to set it up and connect your Google account securely.

What is the “Save to Google Drive” Action?

The Save to Google Drive node is an automation action that uploads incoming attachments from WhatsApp conversations into a Google Drive folder you choose.

It’s perfect for:

  • Archiving user-submitted documents or images

  • Collecting form attachments, receipts, IDs, or voice notes

  • Automating file storage for orders, onboarding, or support cases

⚠️ Before using this node, you must authenticate your Google account through the link shown in the node. This one-time step grants Botassium permission to upload to your Drive.

How It Works

This action detects the most recent incoming media message—whether it’s:

  • An image

  • A video

  • A document (PDF, DOCX, etc.)

  • An audio note (e.g., WhatsApp voice message)

Then it saves that attachment to the selected Google Drive folder.

How to Set It Up

  1. Authenticate Your Google Account
Click the authentication link in the node to connect your Google Drive. You only need to do this once.

  2. Select a Drive Folder
Choose the destination folder where files will be uploaded. You’ll see a list of your available folders after authenticating.

  3. Add the Node to Your Automation Flow
Drag it into the flow after a step where an attachment is expected (e.g., following the Attachment Message Received event).

  4. (Optional) Chain Other Actions
    After uploading, you can:

    • Send a confirmation message

    • Log the upload in a Google Sheet

    • Trigger a webhook or email with the file info

Note: If no attachment is present in the triggering message, the node will exit via the failure path if defined.

Example Use Case

You run a document verification service via WhatsApp:

  1. User sends their ID or contract file

  2. The Attachment Message Received event is triggered

  3. The Save to Google Drive action uploads the file to your “Verifications” folder

  4. A confirmation message is sent, and your team is notified

The Save to Google Drive action works in all WhatsApp automation flows, and is especially useful for document handling, onboarding, submissions, record-keeping, and user-generated content storage—fully automated and securely synced to your Drive.
