Understanding when a user leaves your WhatsApp group can be just as important as knowing when they join. With the “User Left Group” event in Botassium, you can track exits and respond accordingly—whether for follow-up, analytics, or recordkeeping.
This guide explains how to set up this event and what you can do when someone leaves your selected WhatsApp group.
What is the “User Left Group” Event?
The User Left Group node is an event trigger that activates whenever a member leaves a specific WhatsApp group you select.
Use this to:
Track group exits for analysis or reporting
Update CRM tags or user status
Send exit surveys or re-engagement messages (if they’re still reachable via private chat)
How to Set It Up
Open the Automations Tab
Log into your Botassium dashboard and go to Automations.Create or Open a Flow
Choose the automation where you'd like to track user exits.Add the “User Left Group” Event Node
Drag it from the Events section into your automation flow.Select the Group to Monitor
In the node’s settings, choose one or more WhatsApp groups to track for user departures.Connect to Next Steps
Based on your flow, you can:Log the exit in a database
Remove the user’s tag from your CRM
Notify your team
Send a private message asking for feedback (if applicable)
Example Use Case
You manage a private membership group. When someone leaves:
The User Left Group event is triggered
Their status in your CRM is updated to “left group”
An optional message is sent: “We noticed you left the group—was there something we could have done better?”
The support team is notified for follow-up
