How to Use the “Remove User from Group” Action in Botassium
Whether you're offboarding users, managing temporary access, or cleaning up inactive group members, the “Remove User from Group” action in Botassium allows you to automatically remove a contact from a specific WhatsApp group through your automation flow.
This guide explains how and when to use this action for seamless group management.
What is the “Remove User from Group” Action?
The Remove User from Group node is an action that removes the current contact from a selected WhatsApp group. It’s useful when:
- Access to a private group is time-limited or event-based 
- A user cancels a subscription or membership 
- You want to automate cleanup of inactive participants 
- A user requests to leave a group 
This action applies only to groups you’ve connected to Botassium and have admin access for.
How to Set It Up
- Open or Create a Flow 
 In the Automations tab, select or create the flow where a user should be removed from a group.
- Add the “Remove User from Group” Node 
 Drag it into your flow at the point where removal should occur.
- Select the Group 
 From the settings panel, choose the specific WhatsApp group the user should be removed from.
- Trigger Based on a Condition or User Action 
 Common triggers include:- Subscription ended 
- Inactivity detected 
- User sends a keyword like “LEAVE” or “UNSUBSCRIBE” 
- A specific time has passed since joining 
 
Example Use Case
You host a 7-day challenge group. After the challenge ends:
- A delay node waits 7 days 
- The Remove User from Group action removes the participant from the group 
- Optionally, you can follow up with a private message or offer to join a new group 
The Remove User from Group action is available across all WhatsApp automation flows, and is especially useful for event wrap-ups, subscription-based communities, inactivity pruning, and opt-out handling in your group-based workflows.
