Add User to Group

How to Use the “Add User to Group” Action in Botassium
Whether you’re running a community, course, private client group, or internal support channel, the “Add User to Group” action in Botassium makes it easy to automatically add contacts to a selected WhatsApp group—no manual intervention required.
This guide explains how to configure the action to add users seamlessly during your automation flow.
What is the “Add User to Group” Action?
The Add User to Group node is an action that adds the current contact to a WhatsApp group you select from your connected list. It’s ideal for:
- Enrolling users into private communities
- Adding buyers to customer-only groups
- Onboarding course members
- Segmenting users into discussion, support, or event-based groups
The user must have previously messaged your account and not opted out of group invites.
How to Set It Up
- Open or Create a Flow
In the Automations tab, select or create the flow where the user should be added to a group.
- Add the “Add User to Group” Node
Drag it into your flow at the appropriate point (after input, confirmation, purchase, etc.).
- Select the Group
In the settings panel, choose a specific group from the dropdown list of your connected WhatsApp groups.
- Connect It After a Trigger or Condition
For example:- After a successful form submission
- After validating a payment or joining request
- Based on the user’s intent or keyword (e.g., “Join VIP group”)

Only one group can be selected per node. If you need to route users to different groups, use condition nodes before this step.
Example Use Case
You’re offering a paid online workshop, and want to add customers to a private discussion group:
- The user completes payment and is tagged as a participant
- The Add User to Group action is triggered
- The user is added to the “Workshop June 2025” WhatsApp group automatically
The Add User to Group action works in all WhatsApp automation flows, and is especially helpful for event coordination, member onboarding, private community access, and exclusive support groups.
